Recover lost data with Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery Professional

I was recently asked by one of my LinkedIn connections to write a post about Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery Professional, a very interesting recovery software solution for Mac, and I decided to help him out.

I like to learn about new technology, technology is my job and, if I get offered a chance to learn new things, I'm very glad to take it. 

Though we could consider this as a sponsored post (my connection works for Stellar Phoenix), as my followers might know, I only write about what I personally test.



I write what I want and I care to point out I wasn't paid for this in any way.

I was only given a license key in order to test the software.

I tested Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery Professional in a couple of different scenarios and the results were satisfying.

However, as other competitors do, the program requires for you to disable System Integrity Protection in order to recover files from your startup disk (e.g. Macintosh HD) and this is a downside to me.

This change can be easily reverted and it makes sense, as data recovery is impossible if access to filesystem is restricted.

However, I don't personally like messing around with system settings.

This is my personally opinion, though.

On the other hand, I checked out a couple of YouTube videos about recovering data from High Sierra, after disabling system integrity protection, and the recovery process is fast and flawless.


Program interface

The main interface is pretty simple and straightforward.

Recovering lost drives

I had a FAT32 USB with some files on it.

I erased it with Disk Utility and changed its filesystem to NTFS.
After running the software, I could easily access the lost drive and recover the files.

The scan was fast and most files I had on the drive could be successfully recovered.
I also tried to recover files deleted from the Trash but I received this message below and I chose not to mess with system configurations.

However, this is my personal opinion, and System Integrity Protection can be quickly re-enabled the same way as shown below (of course change the related command, accordingly, to csrutil enable).

Wrap-up 

Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery Professional proved to be a reliable recovery software for Mac.

I could easily retrieve almost all files on my external hard drive, even though I had erased it and changed its filesystem to NTFS.

Furthermore, it's pretty fast, even though much depends on the size of the drive you need to scan and on whether you use the Deep scan option or not.

I'm not here to recommend people to buy this software or not, nor I gain anything if you guys do so.

However, I think Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery Professional is a good data recovery solution and can come in handy, should you need to recover important files.
