How to rename a (local) user account in Windows 10

Before Windows 10, it was possible to rename a user account by right-clicking its folder under C:\Users.

Windows 10 has made this process much more elaborate.

Steps:

1. In the search box, type user accounts and click on User Accounts.
2. Click on "Change your account name".
3. If you're prompted for a password. enter it and click Yes. If you do not have any passwords, click Yes.
4. Enter the new desired user name.
5. Click change name.

This a typical example of what Microsoft means by "user-friendly operating system".

A simple routine operation turned into a nightmare.

I don't understand why people are willing to endure this misery just to stick with Windows.

Masochism? It would take an analyst to answer and that's not in my skill set.
