How to rename a (local) user account in Windows 10
Before Windows 10, it was possible to rename a user account by right-clicking its folder under C:\Users.
Steps:
- In the search box, type user accounts and click on User Accounts.
- Click on "Change your account name".
- If you're prompted for a password. enter it and click Yes. If you do not have any passwords, click Yes.
- Enter the new desired user name.
- Click change name.
This a typical example of what Microsoft means by "user-friendly operating system".
A simple routine operation turned into a nightmare.
I don't understand why people are willing to endure this misery just to stick with Windows.
Masochism? It would take an analyst to answer and that's not in my skill set.
