5 Quick hacks for Mac to boost your productivity with a click
1 – Recover the dictionary definition of a word in a text by hovering your mouse on it and clicking Command (CMD)+Control (Ctrl)+ D: this keyboard shortcut causes a pop-up window to display the meaning of the selected word in the dictionary (Fig. 1).

Move a file directly to the Trash: the key combination Command (CMD)+ Backspace allows you to move a file directly to the Trash without having to right-click it and select Move to the Trash or to drag it there.
3 – Power up or restart you computer without playing the "bong" start up sound. You only have to keep the mute button (F10) pressed down.
4 – Share any text to social media with one click. You can share any text you're processing with TextEdit by right clicking it and selecting Share. By clicking the arrow next to Share, you'll allow your text to be shared in LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and to email or IM it to your contacts.

5- Remove or add a program icon from the Dock: right-click the program you want removed and select "Keep in Dock" to add an open application to the Dock or "Remove from Dock", if you no longer want an application to be displayed in your Dock.
